Experiential Learning & Classes for Special Needs Adults
Build & Brew Café offers a variety of classes such as culinary skills, music, and technology. We are also proud to offer classes that feature an experiential learning component where community learners can make and sell food (coming soon!), 3d printed merchandise and artisanal crafts to the public. Our classes are set up to be inclusive and accessible to individuals who come from all backgrounds and with different skill levels and abilities to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our local community members.
We also work with state agencies (such as the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities/Medicaid) so that people who have a "DDD budget" are able to utilize that funding to purchase classes at our site. When students are not in class, they can participate in social activities at our café and gaming lounge. Our goal is to accommodate people of all abilities and skill levels. We have the resources to modify assignments and utilize teaching assistants to run smaller groups with simpler tasks when needed. We will work with all members to be sure that they are set up for success.
We hired one of our talented students to paint a gorgeous mural for our Japanese themed slot car track.
Build & Brew prides itself on being an inclusive community AND employer, offering meaningful employment to individuals with and without disabilities of all kinds. Many of our employment opportunities will involve direct and repeated interaction with the public. Some job opportunities include designing, assembling and selling` 3D printed kits and other crafts. Other opportunities include assisting with our workshops, maintaining 3D printing equipment, and preparing and serving food orders. These opportunities will allow for the development of valuable skills, foster independence and build character and confidence.

Exciting News!!! (Coming Soon)
We are starting a new program for our special needs students. We will be offering ongoing classes where students can learn to use Tinkercad, an online 3D printing software to design car bodies and accessories, assemble and personalize their vehicles with paint and decal work, then put them to the test on our ever-changing, obstacle-packed remote-control racetrack.
Sessions are led by experienced staff who provide tailored support and step-by-step guidance so everyone can take part and succeed. Students will also help design track features and challenges, and each car has a scannable QR code so drivers can track placements and earn points for overcoming obstacles. Then students can use these points to earn fun prizes.
